Abstract

Dr. Charan SinghIndia would be completing 100 years of independence in 2046-47. In its journey, from gaining independence in 1947 to 2022, India’s growth path has followed an interesting pattern. The country had followed a mixed economic ideology for the first few decades under centralized planning and by 1991, decided to undertake significant reforms and open the domestic market to the global economy. Since 1991, reforms in the financial and external sector as well as in industrial policy have yielded positive results. Consequently, with increased opportunities and competition, the future of India can be encouraging.  This webinar will address the forecasting issues.

Dr. Charan Singh, after a long career with Reserve Bank of India, Mumbai, has entered into running the thinktank in New Delhi, EGROW Foundation.  His published work has been substantial and he is a well sought after public speaker on India's policy issues.  He has visiting Stanford University and Harvard University for one year each on research assignment and his PhD in Economics is from New Zealand.
